Story Explorers

Story Explorers is our reading club for children aged 0 to five-years-old. You will receive a reading journey map which will allow you and your child to track as they borrow and explore books from Norfolk libraries.

How Story Explorers works

When you sign up to Story Explorers, you'll get a reading journey map and a welcome leaflet to help you get started.

The reading club helps you keep track of the books your child has borrowed. The first map is for 10, 50, 75, 100, 150, 250 books borrowed. There are two more maps after this - one going up to 500 books borrowed and another up to 1000!

When your child reaches their milestone of 250 books, you'll be invited to collect a certificate at your next visit to the library.

We want to encourage people to try lots of different books with their children, so Story Explorers only records borrowing, not renewals. But if you borrow a book 15 different times over a year it will count each time!

Who it's for

Library Explorers is for children from birth up until their sixth birthday. Children can sign up at anytime but the sooner you start the more time you have to collect rewards!

As this is a new challenge and we don't want older children to miss out on recognition of reading they have already done, we will take into account all previous books borrowed too. So, if a five-year-old signs up who has borrowed 300 books since they joined the library, they will get stickers and certificates to reward all that previous reading too.

How to sign up

You can sign up to Story Explorers at any Norfolk library, or opt in when signing up for a new library account online.

Make sure you provide an email address when you sign up so you can receive notifications when your child can collect a reward.

The child joining must have their own library membership and use it to borrow books - this is to keep track of the books they borrow. Books borrowed before joining the club will be counted too. Don't forget children under five can borrow more books and there are no late fees for children's accounts.
