MOre NUrturing and More Empowerment Nested in Technology (MONUMENT) was a trans-national technological and social innovation project.

Its aim was to strengthen the resilience of informal carers of people living with dementia, giving them the tools to care for the person living with dementia at home for longer.

This was done through professional and structural support based on the principles of the bottom-up Dutch Odensehuis model alongside the application of technological solutions to solve barriers identified by carers themselves.

The Environment Service at Norfolk County Council focused the local pilot project on reducing the barriers identified by carers of people living with dementia in accessing the outdoors and its associated health benefits.

This work was focused on specific pilot locations with Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse becoming one of the key locations during the latter half of the project.

The Environment Service are working alongside colleagues in Adult Social Services to ensure learning and opportunities from this project are being embedded within our wider work.

In Norfolk, funding totalling €472,545 is being provided by the European Union via the European Regional Development Fund's Interreg 2 Seas Programme.

Norfolk County Council shared knowledge, learning and analysis with fellow project partners in France, England, Belgium and the Netherlands.
