Vegetation management including grass
Vegetation management:
- Involves the cutting and clearance of the natural seasonal growth (including grass)
- Applies to our Public Rights of Way (PRoW) and Trails network
Annual cutting programme
We undertake vegetation management between May and October. We use an established annual cutting programme. This allows for the most cost-effective programming of routine work.
We cut both Highways PRoW and Trails PRoW twice per year. Usually cuts are between May-June and July-August. Later in the season (usually September-October), we do a third cut on trails routes. This cut is only completed as conditions permit.
We don't include every right of way in the county in the cutting programme. You can view the routes we include on our PROW and Trails cutting map.
Partner organisations
Some Parish and Town Councils have agreed with us to maintain vegetation on their priority routes. Those parishes are:
- Beeston Regis
- Cromer
- Little Dunham
- Trunch
- Upwell
- Yaxham
Other partner organisations cut some public rights of way. For example, the Broads Authority and Environment Agency on flood banks and riversides. Keeping side growth, such as hedges, from encroaching on to a right of way is the responsibility of the landowner.
