Christmas and New Year message from the County Council's leader

Norfolk County Council , 19 December 2022 00:00

With December 25th fast approaching, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2022 has been a year of turbulent headlines, with the sad death of Her Majesty the Queen, the war in Ukraine, the impact on everyone of inflation and the cost of living and three different Prime Ministers, all in a matter of months.

But professionalism and continuity keeps everything going - whether it's the accession of King Charles, or this council's impressive ability to respond to frequent changes.

I am really proud of everyone who works for this council. They have kept key services running, as well as supporting Ukrainian refugees, helping people in hardship and negotiating a devolution deal with the Government.

Let's look to the future. All the work on all the services we deliver and the help we give to our residents continues, of that there is no doubt. The county deal is an added dimension showing renewed Government confidence in our ability to deliver and trusting us with new powers and funding to boost the economy, jobs and housing. On that I'm confident this is only the start and that devolution can only expand.

I hope that you and your family have a peaceful, happy and relaxing time over Christmas. I think we all know that 2023 is going to be another busy and challenging year.

Andrew
