Norfolk residents to receive early access to digital NHS Health Checks
Norfolk residents will be able to carry out an NHS Health Check primarily via their mobile phone, tablet or computer, as part of a pilot scheme by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) that will operate alongside the in-person service.
People who complete the digital NHS Health Check will receive their results and personalised advice on ways to reduce their cardiovascular risk depending on these results. Those with results that fall outside of the normal range will be advised to follow up with their GP.
In Norfolk there are two GP partnerships participating in the pilot:
- Drayton Medical Practice (Drayton, Horsford and Horsham St Faiths Surgeries)
- Great Massingham and Bayfield Surgeries
Councillor Bill Borrett, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: "I'm really pleased that residents will have more options to access an NHS Health Check. I want as many people as possible to be able to experience the really positive benefits of having an NHS Health Check."
"The digital NHS Health Check aligns with our plans in Norfolk to explore alternative ways of delivering health checks to residents and increase numbers, particularly in areas of greatest need where the uptake is typically low."
NCC Public Health and partners across the system are currently working together to deliver the third year of a five-year programme of improvement for NHS Health Checks in Norfolk, which has already seen performance turned around from one of the lowest in the East of England to one of the best in the country.
Norfolk, alongside two other local authorities, was selected to test the digital NHS Health Check as part of a national pilot following a competitive expression of interest process.
