Ukraine Permission Extension scheme (UPES)

The UK Government has introduced the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme (UPES). This allows people currently living in the UK under existing Ukraine visa schemes to apply to extend their leave to remain in the UK for another 18 months. This is the first extension.

When your initial UPE permission is about to expire, you may be able to apply for another 24 months under the scheme. This is the second extension.

You can apply for free. You can only apply online using your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.

The scheme is currently open for applications. It's important that you apply at the right time.

Don't be early: Submit your application when you have 90 days or less left on your current leave to remain period. If you apply too early, you'll be rejected.

You can now apply to the UPE scheme 90 days before your current Ukraine Scheme permission ends, for both first and second extensions.

Applying within the 90‑day window will not shorten your new permission, as any time left on your current permission will be added to the new grant.

Don't be late: You must apply before your current leave to remain expires. If you don't you may lose your rights to work, rent, and benefits. You may also have to repay any benefits you received during this time.

If you don't know the date when your current leave to remain ends, sign in to your UKVI account to find out.

You can get more information and apply on the GOV.UK website. If you have any questions about your current visa, UPES or your immigration status, you should contact UKVI or a registered immigration adviser.
