Beryl e-scooters offer an official rental scheme for e-bikes and e-scooters. Go to details about Beryl's Norwich bike and scooter scheme.

Whilst you can buy an e-scooter, privately-owned e-scooters:

  • Must stay on private land and only be used with the landowner's permission
  • Should not be used on public roads, paths or any spaces set aside for pedestrians

Legally ridden e-scooters, hired and used safely through Beryls hire scheme, can offer significant advantages:

  • Reduce congestion
  • Contribute to good air quality levels
  • Cost effective
  • Enjoyable mode of travel
  • Ease of use and parking
  • Quick and flexible way of travelling

Information for parents and carers

Have open and honest communication with a young person around the safety and potential legal consequences of riding a privately purchased e-scooter in a public place.

Using a privately owned e-scooter in a public place could lead to:

  • Fines
  • Penalty points
  • Seizure of the e-scooter or increase the cost of motor insurance in the future

Check the rules, potential offences, and penalties in Norfolk Constabulary's e-scooter advice
