National Databank
Are you struggling to afford an internet connection or mobile phone contract?
Norfolk Libraries can help by providing free SIM cards through the National Databank.
Like a foodbank but for mobile data, the National Databank helps digitally excluded people get connected.
What is a SIM card?
A SIM card is a small chip that you insert into a mobile phone. It connects your phone to a mobile network so you can make calls, send texts, and use the internet.
Who can apply?
You are eligible for six months of free mobile data if:
- You are 18 years old or over
- You live in a low-income household
One or more of the following must apply to you:
- You don't have reliable internet access at home
- You don't have reliable internet access when you're out and about
- You can't afford a monthly mobile contract or pay-as-you-go top-ups
To use the free data, you'll also need:
- A mobile phone or tablet that can use a SIM card
- You must unlock your device or work with O2 or Vodafone
How to request a SIM card
SIM cards are distributed from the Millennium Library in Norwich:
- On Thursdays, 1-4pm
- At International Welcome Sessions, Tuesdays 2.30-5pm (for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers).
