Feel connected

Healthy Ageing

It's never too late to feel connected.

Staying socially connected is one of the most important things we can do for our wellbeing. Spending time with others, sharing experiences, having new conversations, and feeling part of a community can help us feel happier, more positive, and more supported in daily life.

Whether it's catching up with a friend, joining a local group, or simply chatting with a neighbour, staying connected really does make a difference to your health and your happiness.

Clubs, groups and one-to-one support

There are lots of ways to stay connected and active across Norfolk. Whether you're looking to meet new people, learn something new, or just have fun, there's something for everyone.

You'll find a wide range of clubs and activities in the Norfolk Community Directory and details of our Norfolk Adult Learning and Skills courses. You can filter by your interests, preferences, or any specific needs to find something that suits you.

Norfolk Libraries have 47 branches across the county and run a variety of free events - from Just a Cuppa to online book groups and chess club to craft groups - find out what's on at your local library.

Age UK Norfolk also provides support with companionship and finding group activities.

Men's Sheds are community spaces where men can enjoy practical hobbies. They're about making friends, learning and sharing skills. Many people come just for the tea and banter. There are lots of Men's Sheds across Norfolk, and some are open to women as well - find your nearest Men's Shed.

If you're feeling a bit unsure about joining a group, try not to worry. Many people feel the same at first. These groups are friendly and welcoming, and everyone was new once. You can always contact the organiser beforehand or bring a friend along for support.

Support others and boost your wellbeing

Getting involved in your community through volunteering is a great way to meet people and make a difference. It's also one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing, helping you feel more connected and giving your own wellbeing a boost.

There are many ways to volunteer, depending on your interests and the time you have. Whether it's helping regularly or just now and then, your time and skills can make a real impact. Find something that works for you and get involved in a way that feels right.
