Norfolk and Suffolk young people unite to release original Christmas song for Save the Children
Children and young people from Norfolk and Suffolk's Music Hub have come together to create an original Christmas song and music video, aiming to spread festive cheer while raising funds for Save the Children.
Nearly 6,000 pupils from the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub, led by Norfolk County Council, have been singing and dancing to Christmas Jumper Day, a festive track written and recorded by Suffolk-based primary school music teacher Chris Warren.
The initiative supports Save the Children's mission to ensure every child worldwide has access to healthcare, education, and freedom from war and persecution.
The song is now available to stream on iTunes, Spotify, and all major platforms, and the official music video premiered on Thursday, 11 December at 2.30 pm. To watch, search Chris Warren Music or Christmas Jumper Day on YouTube. Viewers will also find a JustGiving link under the video to donate to this worthy cause.
Councillor Penny Carpenter, Cabinet Member for Children's Services at Norfolk County Council, said: "This project allowed the children and young people to get into the excitement of the Christmas season while giving them a unique opportunity to perform and be part of something truly special. All while raising vital funds for a worthy cause."
Chris Warren, said, "It has been amazing working with so many schools and pupils on this project. They have all been amazing and so passionate about the song and I can't wait for them to see themselves in the video. I wrote the song back in February and it has been a labour of love ever since. I am delighted with the way that it looks and sounds and am really hopeful that it raises greater awareness and funds for a charity that supports children across the globe.
"My personal mantra for the past few years has been 'think bigger, do better', and this is far bigger and better than previous years. I have already started preparing for next year which will be even bigger and better still."
Christmas Jumper Day, hosted annually by Save the Children, is a celebration of community and compassion. This song, sharing its name with the event, highlights the incredible work of Save the Children while showcasing the creativity of Norfolk and Suffolk's young people - each proudly wearing their festive jumpers.
Norfolk County Council was appointed by Arts Council England to lead the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub from September 2024, as part of a national programme delivering high-quality music education for all children and young people.
