Proof of life and residence service
If you claim a pension from another country, your pension provider may ask you to prove you are alive and live in the UK.
Our service
Your pension provider may ask you to complete a proof of life or residence form. These forms are sometimes called a Certificate of Life or Life Certificate.
We offer a paid service to sign and stamp your completed form. This confirms that we have seen you in person and checked your documents.

- You must get the proof of life or residence form from your pension provider
- We can only sign and stamp completed forms
- We cannot tell you how to complete your form
Where to get your form signed and stamped
In Norfolk, you can get your completed form signed and stamped at:
You do not need to book an appointment. You can drop in during opening hours.
Opening times are Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.
You can bring more than one form.
What to bring to the registration office
- The completed form that you need us to sign and stamp
- Proof of your identity, address and marital status. You must bring the documents listed on your form. If it does not say, then bring:
Proof of identity
One of the following:
- Passport
- Driving licence
- UK bus pass
- Blue Badge
Proof of address
One of the following:
- Driving licence. You can only use this as proof of address if you have not already used it to prove your identity.
- Your most recent Council Tax bill
- Utility bill, bank statement or building society statement from the last three months
Proof of marital status
Bring this only if it applies to you.
- Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate (if you are recorded as married or in a legal civil partnership)
Forms and documents in another language
If your form or supporting documents are not in English, you must also bring a full translation.
- All text must be translated, including stamps and signatures
- You cannot translate the document yourself, but anyone else can
- The translator must write on the document:
"I certify this to be a true and accurate translation", then add their name, address, the date, and their signature.
Cost
It costs £10 for each form we sign and stamp.
Payment
You can pay by card or contactless payment. We do not accept cash, cheques or American Express.
What we can and cannot confirm
Norfolk Registration Service can only confirm that:
- We have seen the person named on the form in person
- The identity and address documents shown to us looked valid when we checked them
We do not:
- Check the rules of foreign pension providers
- Complete the forms for you
- Give advice, translations, or legal certification
We accept no responsibility or liability for:
- What the form says
- How the form is used
- Any decision made by a pension provider or third-party after we sign and stamp the form
