The next steps

The plan must be approved by the Government. If approved, it will unlock funding to expand support and could reduce most of the council's historic SEND funding deficit.

The submitted plan was agreed by the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and SEND on Friday 19 June and will be considered by the Children, Families and Community Select Committee on Friday 10 July. The Government is expected to respond to Norfolk's plan in autumn 2026.

Work to improve services will continue over the next three years, with a focus on delivering earlier support and better outcomes and experiences  for children and young people.
