Hazardous waste
Waste is hazardous if it can cause harm to humans or the environment and includes any waste that needs specialist disposal.
We don't normally take these items at our recycling centres. However, we hold annual free household hazardous waste days when we do accept certain hazardous waste items.
Household hazardous waste days
These are for residents disposing of hazardous household waste only. They are not for any business, group or other organisation.
The 2024 Household Hazardous Waste Days have now been completed. The next campaign will be run in Autumn 2025 and bookings will be required. The dates will be published in Summer 2024.
Some local district, borough or city councils may offer a hazardous waste collection. However, they might charge for it. You can also find specialist hazardous waste disposal contractors online. Check they have a waste carriers' licence and where they will dispose of the waste.
