Supported living

Supported living can be either shared accommodation or individual units where support is provided on-site as part of the accommodation.

People are usually referred to these schemes by Social Services, so if you have had an assessment and are eligible for care and support then talk to your worker about whether this is an option.

You may be charged for the care element of Supported living based on your financial circumstances. You will also have to pay your living costs including rent, council tax, food, heating and lighting. The housing provider will help you claim for any housing benefit and council tax reduction that you may be entitled to.
