Homeless or at risk of homelessness
Where to get help and support if you are a care leaver and homeless, or at risk of being homeless.
Who to contact
If you might soon have nowhere to live, or you are homeless, then contact your personal adviser or life beyond care team.
How we will help you
Your personal adviser will support you to contact your local housing authority. The authority will arrange a housing options appointment and interview.
We have a local connection to all housing authorities in Norfolk, so if you are a care leaver you can apply to any council area you wish to live in. If you are living outside of Norfolk, you can still approach your local council and be entitled to support.
Find your local council on GOV.UK
What happens at the housing interview
During the interview the local council will:
- Get information on your needs
- Tell you the support they will offer to either keep you in your home, or
- Help you find somewhere else to live
This support will be outlined in a personalised housing plan. You will be given a copy and it can be shared with your personal adviser.
Visit Shelter website for more information on care leavers housing rights.
