Norfolk Employment Service (NES)

Norfolk Employment Service (NES) works with:

  • People aged 18 and over with a disability, mental health needs, an Autism spectrum disorder or a long-term health condition

Who have:

  • Been assessed under the Care Act
  • Receive a care and support package from adult social services
  • Are looking for paid work, voluntary work, an apprenticeship, work experience or further training
  • Do not attend or use day opportunities

How to refer to the service

Referrals need to be made by adult social care teams.

How the service can help

The service works with the client and offers a wide range of support:

  • Careers information and advice
  • Help creating personalised CVs
  • Help with job searches
  • Help with completing job applications
  • Help preparing for job interviews and accompanying clients to interviews
  • Support with Access to Work applications
  • Support with Permitted Work forms
  • Support with 'better off' calculations if moving from benefits to paid employment
  • Provide clients with a disability passport to share with an employer
  • Provide in work support for clients when they gain employment (paid or voluntary) for up to six months
  • Provide a further six months job coaching support to ensure that the client and employer can sustain the employment, voluntary position or training

Partnership with Skills and Employment Team

The service works with the Skills and Employment Team (SET). SET supports a diverse range of employers to generate paid employment opportunities for working age adults. They also promote the Disability Confident scheme, which is designed to help employers recruit and retain disabled people and those with long term health conditions.
