Learning in your community

Community learning courses are free, informal, friendly and relaxed. You will learn at your own pace with a small group of learners. Whether you are a beginner, wish to learn a new skill or want to find out if a chosen career path is right for you, these courses will empower you, build your confidence and give you the skills to progress further on your learning journey.

If you are looking for work, returning to work or thinking of a career change, our Job Skills courses are a great place to start. Learn how to recognise your strengths, skills and qualities, build your confidence in communicating, find out about self-employment, starting your own business and more.

Our Introduction to Functional Skills English and maths courses aim to give you a variety of skills that are great for work and learning, they will develop your confidence to move onto a full Functional Skills qualification should you choose to.

Digital skills are becoming increasingly important for both life and work. Our digital and computer courses will give you the knowledge to help you maximise life’s opportunities and gain the essential digital skills that are required in almost every job today. Our courses will teach you a range of skills, from creating and editing documents using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to online shopping!

The Health and Wellbeing courses aim to support your physical and mental health and wellbeing, through a range of programmes from yoga to mindfulness and our Five Ways to Wellbeing courses.

Our Cookery courses will provide you with tips and practical skills to cook fresh, healthy and nutritious meals from scratch.

The Personal Finance courses can help teach you budgeting skills for your household and will give you lots of tips and tricks to make the pennies stretch further.

The ‘Try your Hand’ creative tasters give you the opportunity to learn new skills and build your creative confidence in a safe, sociable online space, enabling you to virtually meet with others if you are feeling isolated or lonely. These are suitable for complete beginners, or those looking to refresh their creative skills.

Our courses will take place either in the classroom*, blended through a mixture of classroom and online learning, or purely online. Once you have booked a place, your tutor will be in touch with you to ensure you have everything you need to begin your course.
