Work gets underway on the latest Repton development as new Chair appointed

Norfolk County Council, 1 December 2023 22:57

Work on the latest housing scheme run by Repton Property Developments, Norfolk County Council's wholly owned development company, has begun on a site in Caister-on-Sea, to be known as 'Burton Cove'.

17 high quality bungalows with an array of green credentials will be built on the two-acre site off St Nicholas Drive and the completed development will have 10 2-bed homes and seven 3-bed homes.
The project is the latest undertaken by Repton and partner organisations across Norfolk. Burton Cove has been project managed by Repton's development managers, Torrington Properties, who provide a full planning and design service. Norwich based builders, Cocksedge Contracting, have been appointed as the main contractors.

Breaking ground not only marks an important stage of development, but this housing project marks the first undertaken as Cllr Greg Peck is appointed as the Chair of the board, taking over from Cllr Andrew Proctor who stepped down due to ill-health.

Cllr Greg Peck said: "This is a key stage of our latest development and continues to show how committed we are to building sympathetic, high-quality, and affordable housing.

"I'm pleased to have been appointed as Chair of the board. I am passionate about Repton's work, which both provides much needed housing in Norfolk, but helps support the vital work the council do by providing a financial return. I'd like to thank Cllr Proctor for his hard work on getting Repton off the ground and being a steady hand on the wheel over the years. I, and everyone at Repton, wish him all the best and a speedy recovery."

Cllr Penny Carpenter, Local Member for Caister-on-Sea, said: "This development is of a high quality and pays particular attention to making the homes as environmentally friendly as possible. I'm looking forward to welcoming 17 families to our wonderful town of Caister."

Mark Nevitt, Founding Director of Torrington Properties, said: "Working with the Support of Ingleton Wood, ig9 Consulting and Bidwells we are delighted to be getting started on site with our first development for Repton. The team have realised our vision in their design to create a bespoke feel to the units on this site whilst designing properties that are economic to run and maintain. This being the first of a programme of sites will set a new benchmark for speculative property developments in the region and we look forward to releasing them to the open market for sale in early 2024."

Jason Goodey, Residential Operations Manager at Cocksedge Building Contractor, said "We are delighted to be delivering this exciting housing project for Repton Property Developments. We have now fine-tuned the design to meet the low energy requirements of the new building regulations and are very much looking forward to the construction phase."

The development will be completed in autumn 2024, with properties going on sale in early 2024.
