Natural and historic environment

Environmental issues affect our residents, communities and visitors to Norfolk.

Our operations and decisions have a significant impact on the environment. As a public body, service provider, major employer, community leader and partner, we can play a key role in shaping positive environmental outcomes.

We have created an Environment policy and strategy to guide our actions for protecting and enhancing the natural and historic environment in Norfolk.

They sit alongside our climate strategy and climate policy and support the delivery of other Norfolk County Council policies and strategies.

Environment policy

This policy outlines our commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment for today and for future generations. This policy supersedes the Environmental Policy endorsed by Full Council in November 2019. It will guide Norfolk County Council's decision-making in relation to nature and the historic environment and access.
