Climate policy
Norfolk County Council recognises the serious impact of climate change globally and the need for urgent action.
The Council made a commitment to help address climate change in its Environmental Policy in 2019 by setting local targets and priorities to safeguard Norfolk for future generations.
In June 2023, we launched a comprehensive Climate Strategy which outlines how the Council will use its powers and influence to address climate change across seven focus areas.
We agree to lead by example and demonstrate our actions and responsibilities in tackling climate change. Taking action now can help to achieve long-term sustainable economic growth from low carbon and green industries in Norfolk.
The Climate Policy ensures that the council's approach to climate change, as comprehensively set out in its Climate Strategy, part of the Council's Policy Framework which guides how the Council is run. This was unanimously endorsed by councillors in March 2024.
