Work experience

Introduction

Work experience is a great way to find out what it's like to have a job. It also improves your confidence and self-esteem.

Work experience can be:

  • A small part of a course
  • The main part of an employability programme

Work experience can help you test out your career ideas. It is also a fantastic way to learn new skills.

The Virtual School for Children in Care and Previously in Care may be able to help arrange a work experience placement for you.

Please speak to your Life Beyond Care personal advisor in the first instance.

Employability course

It can be difficult to find a work experience placement. You might find it easier to get work experience as part of a short employability course.
