Palmers Room, Great Yarmouth

Located in the historic former Palmers building. In its heyday, the family-run department store was a community hub as much as a business, serving generations of residents in Great Yarmouth.

Following a major refurbishment the Palmers building is now known as The Place. The ceremony room is modern and spacious, whilst retaining those historic features including stained glass windows.

Ceremony times

Ceremonies are available at the following times:  

• Wednesday - 11am, 12pm and 1pm 
• Thursday  - 10am, 11am and 12pm  
• Friday - 12pm, 1pm and 2pm 
• Saturday - 12pm, 1pm and 2pm

Capacity

The capacity is for 56 people (this includes children and babies) which includes the two witnesses and a photographer if you are having one but does not include the couple and the two registrars. Outdoor ceremonies are not offered from this location.  

Booking

Use the online booking system to book your ceremony in Great Yarmouth. Select 'The Palmers Room, Great Yarmouth Ceremony Room at The Place' from the list of venues.

Access

The entrance to the ceremony room is at the rear of The Place, via Howard Street car park. The ceremony room is on the ground floor of the building and is fully accessible. If a member of the team does not greet you on arrival, please press the buzzer to the right of the door and one of the team will come and meet you.

Ceremony arrival times

For couples who want to arrive separately and not see each other before the ceremony begins, we advise staggering your arrival times. 

• Partner 1 and all your guests should arrive 20 minutes before the ceremony start time.  
• Partner 2 please arrive 10 minutes before the ceremony start time (if partner 2 is arriving by car, we recommend that your vehicle pulls up to the ceremony entrance, so you remain out of sight from the ceremony room windows). 

For couples who are arriving together, please arrive 20 minutes before the ceremony start time and both make your entrance via the ceremony room entrance where you will be met by a member of our team.  

Parking

There are parking facilities very close to the building and around Great Yarmouth town centre.

Animals

Animals are not allowed into the building, with the exception of service dogs.

Music  

We have a modern sound system in the Palmers Room for you to use. You must bring your own music to the ceremony with you on CD or your phone. Wi-Fi is not available. 

Photographs  

You are welcome to take photos in the ceremony room. There are a number of locations just a few minutes' walk from The Place which make a good backdrop for photos including the beach, various historic buildings and the Venetian waterways.  

Confetti  

All confetti must be bio-degradable. Confetti is not allowed in the building but can be thrown outside away from the main entrances.   

Waiting Area  

There is a small waiting area for guests with access to toilets.  

Food and Drink 

No food or drink is allowed to be consumed in the ceremony room.  

Smoking 

Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not allowed. 

Visiting with Children 

There are baby changing facilities available in the toilets and pushchair/buggy parking at the rear of the ceremony room.
