New Blofield Primary School hosts official opening ceremony
Children in Blofield have celebrated the official opening of their new £8.5m primary school.
Blofield Primary School opened on its new site in Plantation Road in the spring, doubling in size to a 420 place school.
The new building was funded by Norfolk County Council and built by Pentaco Construction. NPS Ltd designed the school.
As part of the celebrations, children gave a tour to representatives from the Norfolk County Council, senior school leaders, governing body representatives, parish council members and Pentaco.
The school, which was built in response to projected local housing growth, is a two storey building, featuring 14 classrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a library, administrative offices, and a spacious main hall with an adjoining studio.
Reception and Key Stage one classrooms are located on the ground floor, each with direct access to outdoor learning areas. Key Stage two classrooms are situated on the first floor, alongside a large, practical group room tailored to meet the school's evolving curriculum needs.
Cllr Penny Carpenter, cabinet member for children's services, said: "This milestone marks a significant investment in the future of education in Blofield, providing a vibrant and inspiring environment where children can flourish."
Cllr Andrew Proctor, local member for Blofield and Brundall, said: "The new school is a top class facility in Blofield and is a welcome addition to local infrastructure supporting development in the area and forming a new heart to the village. It's exactly what's needed for local children to continue to thrive in a quality school."
Teresa Doggett, Headteacher at Blofield Primary School, said: "It is wonderful to have a school that is purpose-built for education in the 21 century. The children and staff are all enjoying the improved facilities with extra space, a fabulous library area and excellent acoustics amongst other benefits. The new school will be an impressive centre for learning at the heart of the Blofield community for many years to come."
Andrew Grady, Managing Director at Pentaco Construction, said: "We're incredibly proud to have delivered this exceptional new primary school, an inspiring space where future generations will thrive, learn, and grow.
"Having been given a tour by some of the school students and teachers as part of the Official Opening Ceremony, it is a pleasure to see first-hand the positivity it has created regarding their new learning environment. This project is a testament to collaboration, community investment, and building with purpose."
