More buses between Watton and Attleborough announced

Norfolk County Council , 28 August 2025 14:58

The Konectbus service 82, which runs between the two towns, will be increasing frequency to hourly, meaning three additional journeys per day in both directions. The new timetable will allow easier connections to Norwich, arriving at the bus stops in good time to get on First Bus and Coach Services buses into the city. The 82 service was originally launched and funded thanks to Norfolk County Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan and has been operating since September 2023.

As part of upcoming changes, Little Ellingham will no longer be served by the 82 service. However, residents will continue to have access to the Flexibus service operated by Our Hire, which will maintain its twice-weekly schedule. Notices will be placed along the affected route, and drivers will distribute information leaflets at key stops to help passengers adjust to these changes.

Cllr Graham Plant, cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport, said: "More frequent bus services mean people really can 'choose the bus' more often. Thanks to our Bus Service Improvement Plan, we have brought services to areas of the county that previously had no or very little service. More buses serving our communities means more people able to leave the car at home and choose a greener form of transport."

Davina Langley, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Konectbus, commented: "We are proud to deliver these enhanced bus services for our communities, making it easier for people to travel sustainably and conveniently. We're incredibly grateful to Norfolk County Council for their continued support and funding, which enables us to expand our network and better serve local residents."

This is one of several service enhancements funded by £15.9 million awarded to Norfolk County Council by the Department for Transport (DfT) for 2025/26. This builds on the £49.5 million received in previous rounds of DfT funding. The investment is being used to improve bus services across Norfolk.

To help passengers adjust to these changes, notices are available on the buses and on the Konectbus website and app. Passengers are encouraged to pick up a new timetable as they board the bus or check the new information at every bus stop.
