National Year of Reading 2026
Do you want to rediscover your love of reading?
Across the UK, fewer people are reading for pleasure. The National Year of Reading aims to inspire everyone to enjoy reading again.
Research from The Queen's Reading Room charity shows that reading for just five minutes a day can reduce stress, improve concentration and help readers feel more connected to others.
How you can get involved
To celebrate, Norfolk's libraries are running a range of exciting events and promotions. This includes the:
- Summer Reading Challenge
- Big FeelGood Read - which launches on 23 March
These activities highlight how reading and sharing stories can be social, enjoyable, and fun.
