Support offered to those facing redundancy in NHS

As part of NHS reorganisation, more than 520 individuals will lose their jobs across Norfolk and Suffolk by the end of 2026.

Redundancy Support Service Manager Andy Thorpe, together with Clint Kent (Department for Work and Pensions) and Tracy Edwards (Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board) hosted two events to support displaced staff. Many of these staff are based at County Hall in Norwich.

Stallholders offered information, advice and guidance to staff and 23 organisations attended. These included potential employers, recruitment companies, support programmes, wellbeing services, training providers, HR, unions and Job Centre Plus.

There were also presentations hosted by Norfolk Care Careers and Adult Social Care, Jarrold Training and the Federation of Small Businesses.

More than 80 staff attended across the two events, with more than 500 conversations recorded on subjects ranging from transferable skills and benefits advice to recruitment opportunities.

One attendee said: "There was a good range of organisations. I came away with more information than I expected, thanks. I found the organisations I spoke with friendly, engaging and very helpful."

Working with Lotus during restructuring

The Redundancy Support Service worked with Lotus as they restructured their UK operation. More than 550 jobs were at risk.

We organised two events for staff where more than 20 stallholders were able to provide advice on job searching, benefits, training and reskilling, apprenticeships, wellbeing and self-employment opportunities.
