Auraglow motion sensor light
The Auraglow Motion Sensor Night Light is a battery-operated motion sensor lamp. When it detects movement, it will automatically light up dark areas.
It helps support safer movement and reduces the risk of falls around the home, particularly at night. It could help you if you have poor mobility or balance, or cognitive or visual impairments.
Benefits of the night light
- Automatic lighting: the light turns on when it detects motion in dark conditions and switches off when it does not detect movement
- Improved safety at night: it helps reduce trip hazards by lighting routes such as from bed to bathroom
- Timed lighting function: it can remain on for 30 or 60 seconds depending on setting
- Discreet and comfortable lighting: the downward-angled design helps prevent glare into the user's eyes
- Flexible installation: you can mount it using screws or adhesive pads in key areas of the home
How to get the night light
Norfolk County Council can provide up to three Auraglow Motion Sensor Lights per order/resident.
However, if you need more devices you can buy them from the Auraglow website.
Important considerations
- Placement is key — ensure the light activates only when needed (for example, not when you're still in bed)
- Think about how quickly you move - you may need extra lights along longer routes
- Make sure you have enough lights to avoid areas going dark while moving
- Avoid positioning where the light could dazzle you
- Pets may trigger the sensor — adjust positioning if needed
Positioning guidance
- Lights are best placed to detect movement from the side rather than straight ahead.
- For bed exits, put lights at a low level (such as they skirting board) so they detect your movement when you get up
- Use extra lamps for larger or more complex routes
- Ensure a smooth transition of lighting between areas
