Herring Bridge (Third River Crossing)

The Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing will link the A47 at Harfrey’s roundabout to the port and the enterprise zone via South Denes Road on the other side of the River Yare. The bridge will ease traffic congestion on the town’s roads, shortening journey times and improving journey reliability, as well as support wider plans and work to maximise investment, regeneration and economic growth opportunities in the town and wider borough.

Construction started in January 2021 and we’re aiming to have the bridge operational and open to traffic by autumn 2023. See an artist's impression of the proposed bridge (video)

The project is already helping the next generation of engineers gain vital experience in the construction industry. Meet some of the team in our short video.
