Secondary school road safety education courses

TIE (Theatre in Education) tour performance

Drama students are given the opportunity to produce and perform a 45 minute performance delivering important road safety messages to year 7 pupils (11-12 year olds).

The Road Safety team build a brief for the drama students to follow and include in their performance. College students deliver the performance by touring to specific High Schools in the county or High School students would deliver to their year 7 pupils.

The performance will promote safer travel to and from school, taking responsibility for behaviour on and near roads, peer pressure, speaking up and speaking out. We also want to present the students with suggested strategies to support them if they find themselves in a similar scenario .

These messages will be promoted in such a way that the pupils will relate to - an interactive, visual, humorous and honest performance.

Aims

The performance aim is to encourage pupils to reflect on their behaviour and develop coping strategies which they might face in the future in regard to being a road user.
