Fire safety education for schools
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) delivers fire safety education for schools. We've designed our education for delivery at specific stages of a child's development.
What is available
Key Stage 1
For years 1 and 2, age 5 to 7-years-old.
We offer a 30 minute presentation to schools based on how to:
- Plan your escape
- Stop drop and roll
The session also covers the role of firefighters and the importance of smoke alarms.
Key Stage 2
For years 3 to 6, age 7 to 11-years-old.
We deliver this either through a Norfolk Crucial Crew event or a 60 minute presentation to schools. In the session we:
- Reinforce subjects covered in Key Stage 1
- Cover hoax and malicious calls
Key Stage 3
For years 7 to 9, age 11 to 14-years-old.
We deliver this via lesson plans provided to schools via StayWise Fire Safety KS3.
Key Stage 4
For years 10 and 11, age 14 to 16-years-old.
We deliver this via lesson plans provided to schools via StayWise Fire Safety KS4.
Key Stage 5
For years 12 and 13, 16 to 18-years-old.
We deliver this through a hard-hitting presentation in schools. The aim is to promote safety on the roads for new drivers. Plus, we share details about our brand new offering of Biker Down. Biker Down is especially useful for students exploring driving mopeds and motorcycles.
