MECC and behaviour change training
We offer behaviour change and MECC (Making Every Contact Count) training to a range of workforces across Norfolk. We also offer training to the voluntary sector for staff that have direct interactions with Norfolk residents. To find out more visit our Behaviour change and MECC training page.
Behavioural insights training
We offer training for Behavioural Insights for public policy makers. This is for staff who are 'behind the scenes' and designing public health-related policy, services, or environments. To find our more visit the Behavioural insights training.

Sexual health promotion training
The iCaSH Norfolk Outreach Team runs sexual health training courses for professionals and frontline staff across Norfolk. This includes the voluntary sector. To find out more visit our Sexual health promotion training page.
Substance use training
Change Grow Live (CGL) run training sessions to support those working with individuals affected by substance use. This is in collaboration with Norfolk County Council. Training opportunities can include:
Introduction to drugs and alcohol
A foundational course for anyone who may come into contact with people affected by substance use. Includes Naloxone awareness and administration.
Mental health services and support
Explores the concept of recovery in the context of co-occurring mental health and substance use issues. Covers service structures, effective treatments, and referral pathways.
Blue light approach training
This is a full-day course designed for frontline workers. The course offers practical tools and strategies to engage with high-risk and dependent drinkers. It uses the nationally-recognised Blue Light approach.
Alcohol and older adults
This is a half-day session. The course focuses on on identifying and addressing alcohol-related harm in older people. It includes guidance on screening, brief interventions, and care planning.
Drug and alcohol brief intervention and screening
This course teaches screening tools and brief interventions for substance use. It uses strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches. Participants learn practical techniques, explore behaviour change models, and practise skills.

Children and young people: substance misuse
The Matthew Project helps people overcome issues with drugs, alcohol, and mental health. They regularly host training for professionals to help young people with substance misuse. These focus on:
- Understanding substance use in children and young people (CYPs): risks and vulnerabilities
- Impact of parental substance use on children and young people
- Conversations with young people about substance use

Smoking cessation training
Smokefree Norfolk offer training to help support people to stop smoking. This training is for health practitioners, partner organisations, and community groups. All sessions build confidence and skills to help people quit or find the right support.
Very brief advice (VBA)
This training is for staff and volunteers. It shows how to ask about smoking and guide people to local stop-smoking services. VBA is a quick, 30-second conversation using three steps: Ask, Advise, Act.
Level 2 - Stop smoking community practitioner training
This training is for staff in GP practices, pharmacies, and community settings who have passed the NCSCT Core Assessment and Key Skills Level 1 (minimum 70%). It teaches person-centred support and explains stop-smoking treatments, including nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), vaping products, and prescription medicines.
Level 2 - Stop smoking community practitioner refresher
This refresher is for staff who have completed the Level 2 training and need to update their skills each year.

We offer training across Norfolk to build confidence and skills in supporting people with mental health challenges or suicide risk. The training is for professionals, partners, and community groups. It helps them respond, support, and signpost effectively. Find out more by clicking the links below.
Suicide prevention training

Workplace and mental health training
This training helps embed positive mental health practices in the workplace. It is designed for employers, line managers, staff, and organisations across Norfolk. 12th man training
This training uses Mental Health First Aid principles to create safe spaces for men to open up. It is focused on informal frontline settings (barbers, hospitality, tattooists). Learn to listen, support, and guide people to further help. To find out more visit the 12th Man training offers page.
JSNA and health needs assessments
This training is for Norfolk County Council and ICB colleagues. It provides tailored support on using the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and carrying out health needs assessments. The course includes practical guidance, tools, and workshops to build confidence and skills in using data for local decision-making. Contact JSNA via email.
