Behavioural insights training
In 2025, we developed our training offer to include 'behavioural insights' training workshops.
The workshops are for those who shape public health-related policies or interventions. You could be:
- District or County Council staff
- Colleagues from health and social care
- The voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector
The training workshops are not aimed at staff who work face-to-face with Norfolk residents.
About behavioural insights training
The behavioural insights training is a tiered-offer. The suitability of the training depends on how involved you are with public policy and intervention development and design.
Our behavioural insights training considers how:
- Public policy
- Public services
- The environments in which we live and work
affect our ability to make healthy choices and lead healthier lives. The training considers the same behavioural concepts explored in our behaviour change training.
Using behavioural insights will enable you to help Norfolk residents to start life well, live well and age well.

This is a half-day workshop to introduce delegates to the principles of behaviour change for public health policy.
Who is the training workshop for?
Leaders and staff in the public sector in Norfolk, who are responsible for public policy and are interested in gaining more insight into applied behavioural science.
Before registering for this course, we recommend that you complete the online eLearning for Health Behaviour Change Literacy (BCL) course
Workshop objectives:
- Provide you with a solid understanding of behaviour change concepts
- Familiarise you with the COM-B model, the Behaviour Change Wheel, behaviour change technique taxonomy, and the EAST framework
- Inspire creative thinking by showcasing practical examples of behaviour change interventions for environmental impact
By the end of this training workshop, you will have gained knowledge of behaviour change theories and frameworks. This sets the stage for deeper exploration and practical application in the optional workshop sessions Behavioural Insights 102 and 103.
Behavioural Insights 102 - Behaviour change theory and intervention design training workshop
This full-day training workshop covers the practical aspects of designing behaviour change interventions. It also addresses key barriers you would like to address in your job roles.
Who is the course for?
If you have already completed Behavioural Insights 101. You now want to apply your learning to:
- Tackle challenging public health policy issues
- Develop your own behaviour change intervention, addressing health and wellbeing inequalities
Workshop objectives:
- Teach you practical skills for designing behaviour change and create your own behaviour change intervention
- Introduce the APEASE framework for assessing intervention feasibility and impact
- Provide insights into the critical aspects of ongoing intervention evaluation
- For you to plan your own intervention evaluation
We will explore the key elements of effective interventions, assess their viability using the APEASE framework, and define how we will evaluate our interventions.
By the end of the session, you will gain the tools and knowledge needed to design targeted behaviour change interventions. You will have applied them to your own intervention design.
The practical workshop and case studies will enhance your ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. This ensures that interventions are well-informed and effective.
