How to request a new pedestrian crossing

Zebra crossing road markings

To request a new pedestrian crossing, you need to contact your local parish or town council.

You should ask them to consider the proposal and provide support in funding an assessment.

The assessment is then carried out by Norfolk County Council Highways. We will consider:

  • Pedestrian flows and desire lines
  • Traffic volumes
  • Speeds

This will help us recommend the most suitable form of crossing. Options include:

  • A central refuge crossing
  • Zebra crossing
  • Traffic signals
  • Other speed management measures
