Campaigning to keep cash in use

When Covid hit the Uk, the move towards a cashless society accelerated without the safeguards that a co-productive system would have raised.

Consequently, many vulnerable people found that their world was shrinking as venues, such as cafes and shops, started to refuse to take their cash.

After a member of Forward Day Centre in King's Lynn was put in an embarrassing situation where she could not use cash and had no means of using contactless payment, Making it Real Board member Reece played a prominent part in a local campaign to highlight these issues.

This work took him to London to talk with a Government Treasury Select Committee and he also informed the Norfolk County Council Infrastructure and Development Committee on 13 November last year on the need to support people who need to use cash.
