Guiding approaches - local
Public Health Strategic Plan, Ready to Change, Ready to Act (2023)
The Public Health Strategic Plan outlines Norfolk County Council's approach to improving health outcomes, focusing on prevention and early intervention.
Key priorities include:
- Children and young people: promoting healthy lifestyles and addressing issues early
- Adults and older people: supporting people to live healthy and fulfilling lives for as long as possible. This includes preventing loneliness, promoting physical activity, preventing falls, and addressing health conditions such as frailty and dementia. There is also a strong emphasis on supporting carers, who play a critical role.
- Place and partnerships: addressing health inequalities through community partnerships and tailored local services
- Health protection: ensuring preparedness for health emergencies, including managing infectious diseases
- Addiction: tackling drug and alcohol misuse through prevention and treatment
Together, these priorities underpin the Council's wider efforts to reduce health inequalities, strengthen prevention, and build a more resilient, equitable health and care system in Norfolk.
