Set goals and plan to drink less

You have identified your drinking as an area of your lifestyle that you feel you need to change.

One way you can increase your chances of success is by planning how you're going to make the changes you want.

Make an action plan

Action planning is a process which helps you focus your own ideas and decide what steps you may need to take to achieve your drinking-related goals.

If the idea of change seems daunting, try setting achievable goals to start with. Small achievements can increase your confidence and motivation.

As you reach each goal you can make new ones more challenging, yet achievable, until you get to your overall target.

This will make things much more sustainable in the long run.

To help you make your own plan, we've created a tool which allows you to set out an overall goal and the small steps you can take to achieve it.
