Flourish pledge case studies

Forest School for Life

What they pledged

Forest School for Life pledged to:

  • Provide flexible employment for parents so they could work within school hours
  • Offer 25% of places to families on low incomes so their children could learn and play in a forest school setting

About the pledge

Since the pledge, despite the tough economic climate, over 100 families have registered with the school. Over 150 children have completed their programme.

Forest School for Life used the Flourish ambition to build their programme. They have networked across the UK to raise the standards of outdoor education in early years.

As winners of the 2023 Flourish awards in the 'learning' category, they have also had the confidence to join up with university professors and researchers. This has helped further develop their programme and make sure they improve outcomes for children.

"Flourishing in Norfolk means so much to us.... We remain proud of our Flourish pledges, and hope to extend them, as well as consolidating the ones in place. We're also working hard to champion the 'Flourish' ethos in as many areas as we can."
