Flourish pledge case studies

The Matthew Project

What they pledged

The Matthew Project pledged to create and develop opportunities for young people in their service to have a direct link to their board of trustees.

About the pledge

The Matthew Project has worked with the Flourish framework to strengthen their work with young people. They have developed Flourish "trees" to engage with young people and map their business activity and offer.

The trees were artwork created by the young people to show how the Matthew Project has helped reach Flourish outcomes. The concept inspired some of their young people to think about what Flourish meant to them.

The Matthew Project also used Flourish to develop business activity and strengthen their offer to children and young people.

Trustees attended art and steering group sessions where young people were able to talk to them about their experiences, aspirations and challenges.

Two young people who were supported by The Matthew Project also took part in the Flourish judging panel for the Flourish awards 2023. One of the young people went on to train  in public speaking by the Theatre Royal Norwich and then compering the Flourish awards event.

The Matthew Project was awarded the safe and secure award at the 2023 Flourish awards (not judged by their own young people!).

"Flourish has helped us to gain a better understanding of the work that different organisations do .... giving us a framework to reflect on our current practice. The highlight has to be the Flourish Awards, where one of our young people presented the awards for each organisation. The Flourish activities we have done has helped develop young people's communication, confidence in group settings and sense of belonging."
